General
Zakaya is your go-to app for connecting with your communities online. We create uniquely connected micro-communities (mus) where interactions are meaningful and engaging, offering a true sense of belonging.
Unlike traditional social media, Zakaya focuses on dense micro-communities where members can form lasting connections through meaningful interactions, events, and shared interests.
A densely connected community is where most members actually know each other - not just as usernames, but as real people. While typical online communities might have thousands of members who rarely interact, Zakaya's mus are designed to be smaller (around 100-200 people) where each person meaningfully connects with dozens of other members.
Think of it like a real-world community center or club rather than a crowded stadium. Our goal is to create spaces where you'll recognize familiar faces and build genuine relationships, not just scroll past strangers.
Zakaya offers chat rooms, forums, content feeds, event calendars, and a buddy match program. Each community (Mu) has its own hub page where you can see all activities, upcoming events, and member interactions in one place. You can also maintain a profile, friends list, and participate in community events.
Communities (Mus)
A Mu hub is like your community's living room - it's where you can catch up on the latest activities, check the event calendar, and see what everyone's up to, all in one place. Each hub includes an activity feed, event calendar, and member list.
Each Mu typically has several types of rooms: chat rooms for real-time conversations, forums for discussions, content feeds for sharing media and links, and special chat rooms for specific events.
The Buddy Match Program helps new members connect with others in the community. You can sign up, add keywords about your interests, and get matched with people who share similar interests. When matched, you'll be placed in a group message to start connecting.
We intentionally keep Mus smaller, typically around 100-200 members. This size allows for meaningful connections while maintaining an active, vibrant community. It's large enough to always have someone to talk to, but small enough that you can get to know most members over time.
Making Connections
Absolutely not. According to a 2020 Cigna study, more than half of Americans (52%) report feeling alone, and 58% feel like no one knows them well. In fact, nearly half of people report feeling that their relationships aren't meaningful.
You're not alone in feeling this way, and that's exactly why we built Zakaya - to help people find meaningful connections in smaller, more personal communities.
Making friends online is about consistency and authenticity. Show up regularly in your mu's chat rooms and forums, participate in discussions, and most importantly - be yourself!
Our Buddy Match Program can help you connect with people who share your interests, and our smaller community sizes make it easier to form real connections.
Remember, meaningful friendships take time to develop, so don't feel pressured to rush the process.
Your profile works as your personal introduction to the community. Other members can view your wall, friends list, and Mu list when they click on your profile in chat. It's a great way to showcase who you are and connect with others.
